What We Believe

We Believe :

- -The Holy Bible
is in every word, the true and inspired Word of God, and the sole authority for our faith and life.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 "We also thank God...because the word of God...not the word of man...is the word of God..."

- - In a Triune God:

> God the Father is the Creator and sustainer of the world.  He is the Father of Jesus.
Psalm 124:8 "Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth."

> God the Son is Jesus Christ. He is both true God and true man. He was sent into this world by the Father to live a perfect life, to suffer and die on the cross, to rise to life three days later, and to ascend into Heaven so all people are forgiven of their sins and so all who believe in him shall receive eternal life in heaven.
1 John 5:20 "the Son of God...Jesus Christ...is the true God and eternal life."

> God the Holy Spirit works through the Gospel in both God's Word and the Sacraments to bring people to faith, strengthen their faith, and lead people to live a God pleasing life.
1 Corinthians 6:19 "...your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit..."

- - There are two Sacraments:

> Holy Baptism is when God the Holy Spirit works through the Gospel, connected with water, to bring people of all ages to faith. Through the faith that is created they are made God's children and their sins are washed away.
Matthew 28:19 "baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

> Holy Communion is when a believer receives Jesus body and blood together with bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins.
Luke 22:19-20 "This is my body given for you; ...This is...my blood, which is poured out for you."

- - We are sinful and unable to save ourselves.
Ephesians 2:4 "...because of his great love for us, God...made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions..."

- - We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus as our Savior, not by our works;  believers do goods works as a sign of their faith in their hearts.
Colossians 3:17 "...whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
